June 6, 2012 – Those women who took the birth control drugs Yaz or Yasmin and suffered side effects are being alerted of a new court order which will allow more time for them to get a Yaz settlement.

Anyone who experienced a blood clot, DVT, stroke or pulmonary embolism after taking Yaz should speak with a qualified lawyer immediately to learn what rights they have and what compensation is available.

Legal action started after studies from Denmark and the Netherlands in 2009 linked Yaz to blood clots. In October, 2011 the FDA also released a study of more than 825,000 women showing drugs like Yaz could cause up to a 74% increased risk of developing blood clots.

Now, court records show more than 10,000 women have filed a Yaz lawsuit for injuries like blood clots, DVT, stroke and pulmonary embolism.

Recently, Bloomberg News reported that Bayer Pharmaceuticals, which makes Yaz, had already paid $142,000,000 to settle over 600 of these cases. The average amount recovered is nearly $220,000 per case.

Last month, Judge Herndon, the federal judge presiding over the Yaz lawsuits, issued a new order which gives the parties an additional 60 days to reach settlements.

Hundreds of women affected by Yaz have contacted the Yaz Resource Center with concerns over their legal rights and how they can be part of the Yaz settlement for their injuries. While Yaz settlements are available, only a very small percentage of the law firms involved have been able to resolve their client’s cases.

The Yaz Resource Center only works with experienced Yaz lawyers who have already settled Yaz lawsuits and can help you resolve your case quickly. For more information on the research, side effects and litigation related to the drug Yaz, or to speak with a lawyer, contact us today.
